The view in the morning was amazing. The valley was filled with fog and the clouds were like waves. The warm morning sun was shining on the trail through the soft trees.
There were remains of old buildings and the trees were showing wonderful autumn colours.
The trail in the morning was nice. Through fresh pine forest, going gently uphill. Every now and then were Ojis and some historic sites.
After climbing over a mountain full of pine trees I arrived in the next village.
Coming out of the mountains I passed some places with perfect campsites. But I was wanted to move further to have less way on the next day. The town was pleasantly quiet. I came by a soccer field. In the afternoon the path wag going on a mountain side with many small settlements passing by.
There were a few Minshuku besides the trail. And also a few important historical sites. For example a place with 700 year old pine trees.
I continued on and soon got out of town. It was getting more and more quiet. As the sun sets early in winter (04:40), I had to find a spot to camp soon! I saw a rest area on the way in the next section that I thought might be good.
But as I arrived there I realized that it was directly by a river. It was too damp and the atmosphere was also not very good.
So I went on and passed a cemetery.
As it was getting dark soon I needed to find a spot. I found one, on a side part of the trail. As I didn’t see anybody the whole afternoon I thought it would be safe to camp there (I really didn’t want to disturb anyone). I waited until it was nearly dark to set up my tent to avoid disturbing anyone and set up camp. I was fighting with building the tent. Now I was so glad I had a place to sleep the night before, because I wondered if I would have been able to set up my tent the night before…
I didn’t eat anything that night.
In the night I had many visitors. There were some sounds coming from above. (I later found out that there are monkeys in the region. Probably they were the visitors.) In the morning there was an animal screaming loudly, really close to me. It sounded like it found it outrageous that I would dare to come into its territory and bother it. „Noo, what are you doing?!?!“ The animals were really close that night. I rang my bear bell and tapped onto the roof of my tent to let them know I am there. I don’t know if that made it better or worse.
Also at one time, it was really quiet, and then I heard a pretty big branch crack and then nothing again. Scary! :O
